Back in the Day...

She has done it Again...

The talk is about non other than Cheryl Cole. We @ Liebesgeist thought that the comparison between Cheryl Cole and Daphne of Scooby Doo was so amusing, that we felt the need to spread it on.

Francois Cadiere for Louis Vuitton

The Belgian Illustrator was invited to design a selection of scarves for the luxury brand Louis Vuitton. Inspiration was gathered from Berlin and its graffiti culture. They teamed up with Liberty to present different ways of wearing the scarves. We think the photography and collages are very eye catching indeed.

The Irony of it All

... Model of the week is none other but Crystal Renn.

Vogue Paris Editorial Shot by Terry Richardson

When she began her a career in modelling during her early teens, she was asked to drop a few dress sizes by her agency. On suffering a breakdown, or as she puts it, her body not taking to all the exercise and dieting, she gained some weight to a US size 14.

Stick to Your Strenghts...

Gone are the days of the Super Model Era that had women all over the world wanting to look like Cindy, Naomi, Iman or Linda. Ever beautiful in photographs, which at the end of the day is what they are paid a hefty sum to do-make the product look desirable whilst looking stunning.  But they shone beyond just that. As a model, it is all about being a chameleon. Being able to adapt to any environment they are placed in. Today it is avant garde tomorrow it is minimalism. It could be an androgynous look a designer or photographer is after, or a sensual mystery woman.  Hours on end spent on a challenging set. With all that happens in and outside private lives, models still need to "bring it" to a job. And believe us when we say that it is not as easy as it sounds.

Dainty Jewellery...

Hamsa is a symbol shared across many religions and traditions originating over thousands of years ago. Most common in the Middle East and North Africa, meanings for the symbol vary but one widely shared version is that of protection and success. The Arabic meaning of the word is whisper. A whispered prayer or incantation maybe for protection? Another meaning of the word Hamsa is "five" and depending on tradition could represent five limbs-hands, legs and head which are to be used to achieve enlightenment or the downwards facing open hand, deflecting any evil forces into the earth. A blue eye, also known as the evil eye is sometimes incorporated into the Hamsa. For double protection! Used as protective ornaments in homes or worn as jewellery. If you want to get yourself the Hamsa, either to combine with other accessories (as they are mostly very dainty) or because of its symbolic meaning, then here are some beautiful selections in gold, leather or beads. You can shop the selection here.

Jump and Play for Joy...

DvF had some exceptionally bright play and jumpsuits going on in her SS11 collection. And just like the maxi, this is perfect for those lazy days when we still want to look and feel sophisticated. Print or patterned playsuits are ideal during the daytime whereas the block coloured silk jumpsuits are perfect for evening chic.

What Cut Suits What?
Go for peg leg versions if you have a boyish figure. Flared leg jumpsuits that cinch in at the waist are best for women hippier women and those with broad shoulders to even out the shape. Don't be scared of some colour. Then hair and make-up can be kept minimalist. And there we go again saving the day and a whole lot of time!

All White Everything...Rihanna

While we are on the topic of MUGLER, I can see Rihanna rocking this. What accessories would she combine this slightly futuristic dress with? Send in your ideas. She does love herself a bit of white and Rihanna is one of those that get away with the colour without looking tacky.

The Met Gala 2011

It is the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala. Emphasis lies on COSTUME. So all the uproar about Rihanna's Stella McCartney number went past us. It is meant to be a dress-up evening. And as much as we love to think that to look OTT is easier than looking well put together, that is certainly not the case. Anna, Rihanna, Daphne and my absolute favourite Christina Ricci sure did get the memo.
